Ohio har i grunden ett fastlandsklimat, men det finns stora variationer inom delstaten. Generellt sett g\u00e4ller dock att somrarna \u00e4r varma med h\u00f6g luftfuktighet medan vintrarna \u00e4r kyliga. I de norra delarna av Ohio g\u00f6r n\u00e4rheten till de stora sj\u00f6arna (Great Lakes) att vintrarna blir kalla, med sn\u00f6 och enstaka vinterov\u00e4der som drar ner fr\u00e5n Lake Erie. L\u00e4ngst i s\u00f6der ligger den s\u00e5 kallade Bluegrass-regionen d\u00e4r klimatet \u00e4r n\u00e4ra p\u00e5 subtropiskt. Det \u00e4r dock ovanligt med virvelstormar s\u00e5som tornados i Ohio, \u00e4ven om delstaten faktiskt ligger i det omr\u00e5de som kallas f\u00f6r the Tornado Alley.
